Our Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

SITUATION:

BOND’s longstanding relationship with Beth Israel and history of successful projects within the healthcare market led to the company being selected to construct the new 37,000 SF Outpatient Clinical Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham (BID-Needham). The project consists of four floors devoted to extraordinary outpatient care. The new Clinical Center benefits the surrounding communities providing greater access to acute services such as gastroenterology, cardiology, and orthopedic care on an outpatient basis as well as improved availability of premier medical staff.

CHALLENGES:

  • Minimized disruption for existing BID-Needham campus patients and staff
  • Managed noise and vibration from construction work to ensure minimal impact to the hospital and surrounding residential neighborhood
  • Close collaboration with JACA Architects to enable BID-Needham to create a new building with appropriate space to meet the rising demands for care in the community

SOLUTIONS:

  • State-of-the-art Outpatient Clinical Center responds to rapid changes in health care and increasing outpatient volume
  • Clinical Center brings more patient-centered care to the community for critical outpatient services for cardiology, gastroenterology and orthopedics
  • The new building offers a comfortable, most convenient and efficient layout for patients and a collaborative space for clinicians to deliver the highest level of care

RESULTS:

  • Building architecture and construction incorporates natural light for healing, a collaborative work space for physicians and staff, and a conference center
  • The design features a nod to the local neighborhood adjacent to the hospital, with a residential style façade and a modern, sleek facility on the other
  • The new building was completed on time, within budget and opened to the public May 2019
