Description:
As part of their Master Asset Protection Plan, Smith College engaged the BOND team to complete an assessment of the work order and preventive maintenance programs.

Challenge/Situation:
Smith College engaged a new Facilities Department exective who wished to obtain third part assessment of the department’s work and maintenance management programs, including an improvement roadmap.

Solution/Action:
The BOND team developed a unique and collaborative approach that included key Smith College work and maintenance management stakeholder groups. Individual interviews, along with BOND experience, were blended to create a multi-year improvement work plan that incorporated staff recommendations.

Benefit/Result:
The project baselined current day-to-day maintenance work management activities and procedures and a recommended Action Plan for the Facilities Department relating to customer work requests, preventive maintenance and corrective/emergency maintenance. This information is presently being utilized in the college’s process improvement/optimization project.
