CASE STUDY:

When Wentworth was considering adding a residence hall to their campus in 2003 they called upon their long time construction partner, BOND. Located right on busy Huntington Avenue, Triple 5 as it is known is home to 364 of Wentworth’s students. The building completed in 2005 is designed with 58 suites ranging in occupancy from 5 to 9 residents in single, double and triple bedrooms. Many of the suites offer fabulous views of the Longwood Medical Area and the Emerald Necklace.
Working closely through the preconstruction phase with long time partner Perkins+Will, BOND provided advisory services to the team including: budgeting, constructability and value analysis expertise to ensure that the building could be constructed within the desired budget. The location of the project required intense communication and much advanced planning. Building on a zero lot line site necessitated close coordination of deliveries and in many instances just in time delivery of materials with no available laydown area. In addition, the project required multiple levels of approvals through city and state regulatory authorities including the MWRA. The project’s footprint traverses an MWRA line servicing the greater Fenway area. Protocols and procedures were required to ensure that no disruption occurred to the existing MWRA line.
Wentworth was pleased with the final project and has subsequently hired BOND to provide construction management services for multiple projects on their campus.
