CASE STUDY:
The Paramount Center on the Emerson College campus required the assemblage of a project team who could perform the complex restoration of a historic theatre as well as construct a nine story residential tower and support areas to the theatre. Based on historical photographs and extensive research the restoration component included the replication of specialized historic elements within the building including castings of actual figurines. The integration of custom made fixtures with state of the art building systems required close coordination and attention to detail so as to fit the latest of technology within the 1932 structure. The challenges of this landmark project included constructing on a zero lot line site and within a very tight urban neighborhood as well as dealing with buried lead paint coated brick batts directly below the surface of the site remaining from old demolished structures. Safety concerns were paramount with special precautions taken for the neighborhood surrounding the site. The completed project was a catalyst to urban restoration of surrounding properties in the neighborhood. The Paramount Center is once again a landmark theatre in the City of Boston.
