At Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, MA. The new Cancer Center includes a Linear Accelerator Vault and CT Room. This facility rounds out a full cancer detection, management, and treatment facility for the hospital.
Challenge/Situation:
Very aggressive 34 week schedule required the Linear Accelerator to “beam on” by December 15, 2008. This required completion of the vault in 24 weeks in order to accept delivery of the LINAC.
Solution/Action:
The schedule was met by utilizing a modular block system for the LINAC Vault. This system accelerated construction of the vault construction while actually decreasing overall cost of the project.
Benefit/Result:
By employing the modular system for the vault, we completed the project to meet the hospital’s schedule. This important facility is now able to provide the community with multifaceted state of the art cancer treatment options.
